LEED Certified

Many of the University of California’s policy goals for sustainable buildings are based on standards developed by the U.S. Green Building Council whose Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) ratings are an internationally recognized standard for “green” buildings.

LEED certification promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability. It includes metrics for multiple aspects of building design, construction and operation, including design innovation, location and transportation, water efficiency, energy use, building material selection and supply chain, indoor environmental quality and occupant education. There are four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum for new construction, existing buildings, commercial interiors, or other criteria.
