Earth Week Events

For five decades, people have gathered on this day to show their commitment to the environment and to rally for change. To honor, celebrate and continue this legacy, the Office of Sustainability partnered with groups across the UC Davis community to organize Earth Month.

Sustainability: A Summit of Champions

UC Davis’ second annual Sustainability Summit provided the opportunity to share and celebrate good news from across the university, including a new student coalition, innovative partnerships and the university’s new Sustainability Champions — not to mention a new gold rating.

Challenge Yourself (and Others) to Live More Sustainably!

Are you wondering how you can still have an impact from home this Earth Month? Well, from April 20th-April 26th the Green Initiative Fund and the ASUCD Environmental Policy and Planning Commission are asking all of you to participate in the Earth Week Challenge!

2020 Earth Month Events

In 2020, UC Davis celebrated the 50-year anniversary of Earth Day with Earth Month, a whole month packed with events promoting sustainability. Prior to our campus moving to suspended operations in response to COVID-19, all of these events were planned in support of Earth Month. A number of events still happened virtually, which is indicated below.

1 Day Isn’t Enough for Earth Day in 2020

UC Davis will celebrate Mother Earth in this 50th-anniversary year of Earth Day with a long Earth Month. The university’s observance will start April 1, take in the real Earth Day, April 22, and conclude, appropriately, the last day of the Whole Earth Festival, Sunday, May 10 — Mother’s Day.

UC Davis Sustains Its Top GreenMetric Rankings

From the smallest of deeds, like recovering surplus food to give to people in need (and keeping the food out of the waste stream), to large renewable energy projects, UC Davis’ efforts in sustainability have the nation and world taking notice — again.
